As promotions for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Dunki gain momentum, the actor engaged with fans in an #AskSRK session, offering new details about the movie. Responding to various queries, SRK explained the meaning of Dunki, shed light on his Punjabi dialogues, and addressed the film’s family-friendly appeal.
When asked about the meaning of Dunki, SRK clarified, “Dunki is the donkey journey across borders without permits. In the Punjabi dialect, they pronounce it Dunki #DunkiTrailer.” Another fan inquired about SRK speaking Punjabi in the film, to which he responded, “Not too many; I don’t speak it too well, so I have left that part to @taapsee and #Vicky; they are brilliant. #DunkiTrailer.”
Regarding Dunki as a family film, SRK stated, “Saath waalon ki family ke saath bhi dekh sakte hain. Holiday time takes everyone along, my friend. #Dunkitrailer.” Responding to a comparison with his previous blockbusters, SRK mentioned, “@RajkumarHirani #Abhijaat and some really lovely characters who actually will exist in your family members, I am sure. #Dunkitrailer.”
Explaining the challenges of portraying different ages in Dunki, SRK shared, “One has to work on physical attributes to play different ages… prosthetics and VFX, and a whole lot of team members have to work very hard to try and get it right. Months of work. #DunkiTrailer.”
When asked if his Dunki look is inspired by his son AbRam or vice versa, SRK humorously replied, “Meri poori family hi beautiful hai haha. It was a dialogue in Yes Boss, and I love it. #DunkiTrailer.”
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki also stars Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, and Boman Irani in key roles. The film is set to hit theaters on December 21.
