Tiger Woods may not be at the top of his game anymore, but he still has the potential to astound the best golfers in the world.
Woods recently tested some new clubs on the driving range with fellow pros Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Rory McIlroy, and Tommy Fleetwood as part of a TaylorMade film production.
Scheffler questioned Woods about why he doesn’t drill with divots while the quartet engaged in light conversation.
What makes you make a divot? Woods answered.
Scottie was shocked. “I’m asking you because I don’t know,”
“Just picking it,” Woods remarked. “I don’t take divots when I’m swinging well.”
“I don’t dig divots when I flush it. Just the way things are. What is, is what is.
Still visibly perplexed, Scheffler ended the exchange.
Inquiries concerning the footage were made of Scheffler at the PGA Championship. He still believes that Woods might have been tricking him, but he is unable to confirm this.
The footage, according to Scheffler, “I haven’t actually watched it, but I do remember that day.” “I was just trying to wake up because that was one of the first things we did that day. I noticed that he hadn’t dug any divots and was somewhat perplexed by this. So my expression probably said it all. But I’m not sure. I believe he was conducting a drill of some kind and perhaps didn’t want to notify me because there were cameras around.
Who is to say? He might not actually take divots. Ask JT.”
Woods’ iron play has already strayed into the realm of legend.
