Did the front half of Tesla’s long-awaited Model 3 facelift really get leaked?
The car internet is buzzing over a photo that some Redditors believe shows an upgrade to the automaker’s sedan, with a redesigned face that has drawn comparisons to the Roadster. Here’s the image that’s now going viral:

Tesla began Model 3 deliveries in 2017, and the vehicle hasn’t altered much since then, with the exception of a redesigned console, wheels, and a range boost in 2021. According to a 2022 Reuters article, Tesla’s next major Model 3 update is dubbed Project Highland and would include “fewer interior components and a slightly redesigned exterior.”

Keep your skeptic hats on, though. None of these details have been confirmed by Tesla.
The image shown here has several intriguing features. The front bumper is unique, and thankfully lacks the wide lip found on the current Model 3. There are no fog lights in the photo, but it does show a sleek, reworked headlight assembly. The wheels appear to be two-tone, and the dashboard has been covered or altered such that it curves up in front of the driver. Overall, the design appears to be more athletic than the present Model 3.

The Model 3 is hardly alone in its aged appearance. Since its inception, Tesla has yet to drastically remodel any of its vehicles. When Tesla debuted a new version of the Model S sedan in April 2016, it included an upgraded front end with a body-color bumper in place of the false radiator grill, it was the most significant update of the lineup.

The Model X, Model 3, and Model Y have only had minor cosmetic changes to their outside sheet metal. It’s unclear whether the car shown here is the upcoming Model 3 or a mobile design prototype. But one thing is certain: this vehicle has some miles on it. Take a look at all of the bugs.
