When Diljit Dosanjh came across an unsubstantiated tweet on Wednesday claiming that the Punjabi actor-singer had supper with American pop sensation Taylor Swift in Vancouver, Canada, he was taken aback.
Fans in Vancouver were shocked to see two of their favourite stars dining together at Cactus Club Cafe Coal Harbour on Monday night, according to Diljit Dosanjh, who just gave a performance at the Coachella festival in the US. Several sources attested to Taylor Swift and Diljit Dosanjh’s laughter and ‘touch touch’ behaviour. The tweet was posted two days after it was claimed that Taylor and Matty Healy had purportedly broken up. It is said that the two split up after recognising they were “not really compatible with each other.”
Diljit replied to the tweet with “Yaar Privacy Naam Di v Koi Cheez Hundi Aa” (There is such a thing as privacy). His supporters were split by Diljit’s response. Someone said, “Diljit wants Kylie Jenner.” Diljit Dosanjh and Taylor Swift??, wrote another. A ship I had no idea existed… However, I need it to sail.
Diljit Dosanjh’s next acting project is Imtiaz Ali’s film Chamkila, which portrays the untold true story of Amar Singh Chamkila, a legendary rocker from Punjab who gained notoriety in the 1980s by the intensity of his songs. Tragically, he was killed at just 27 years old. Chamkila, a best-selling artist who has attained enormous success, continues to be one of Punjab’s most talented performers.
Diljit Dosanjh has previously mentioned how difficult it had been to portray the main character of Chamkila. Diljit also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute his voice to Rahman’s music and expressed the hope that his interpretations accurately represented the maestro’s intent.
