Monday blues? Certainly not if your name is Ruturaj Gaikwad as the India batter has rewritten record books by clubbing seven consecutive sixes an in-over to create a List A world record in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022.
Let us tell you that after his wonderful performance, He has become the first player in the history of limited-overs cricket to hit seven sixes in an over. The record for most sixes in an over (overall) though remains with Lee Germon of New Zealand who struck eight of those during a mind-boggling turn of events in Wellington’s Shell Trophy match.
Vijay Hazare Trophy
Maharashtra opener Gaikwad created the record during a Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinal clash with Uttar Pradesh at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground, in Ahmedabad on Monday (November 28).
Here’s How Gaikwad Added Another Feather To His Cap:-
First SIX – Gaikwad hit Shiva Singh’s first ball for a six-over long-on. An attempt was made to throw the yorker ball but Rituraj made the ball a half-volley.
Second SIX – Gaikwad hit the second six over the bowler’s head. This time, the six was absolutely flat.
Third SIX – Shiva Singh bowled the third ball a little short which was hit by Gaikwad over midwicket.
Fourth SIX – Gaikwad hit the fourth six over long off. This time too the ball was full and it was outside the off stump. Gaikwad took him across the boundary with good timing.

Sixth SIX- Gaikwad also hit a six on the free hit. This time he delivered the ball over midwicket for 6 runs. In this way, Gaikwad not only hit 6 sixes in 5 balls but also completed his double century.
Seventh SIX- Gaikwad also hit the 7th six over the midwicket. The seventh and final ball was smashed over deep midwicket.
