South superstar Mahesh Babu’s father Krishna passed away today at the age of 79. He breathed his last at around 4 am. The entire Telugu film industry is in shock over Krishna’s untimely demise.
He was a great actor of the South industry.

Ghattamaneni Shiva Rama Krishna Murthy aka Krishna was born on May 31, 1943 to Ghattamaneni Raghavaiah Chowdhary and Nagarathnamma. Krishna predominantly worked in Telugu cinema. In a career spanning five decades, he acted in more than 350 films.
Family Members
Krishna was married to Indira Devi and later to Vijaya Nirmala. Vijaya Nirmala passed away in 2019, while Indira breathed her last in September 2022. Krishna was the father of five children Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu, Padmavati, Manjula, and Priyadarshini.
Superstar Krishna Started His Career In 1961
Krishna started his career in 1961 with a brief role in Kula Gothralu. Also, Superstar Krishna continued to appear in supporting roles for the next few years. In 1965 he made his debut as a lead actor in Thenne Manasulu. Two years later, he came into the limelight through the film ‘Sakshi’. The film won acclaim at the Tashkent Film Festival.
Awards
His film ‘Pandanti Kapooram’ won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1972. Some of his best movies include Alluri Sitarama Raju, Simhasanam, Goodachari 116, James Bond 777, Mugguru Kodukulu, and Anna Thamudu. Apart from films, Krishna also ventured into politics and called it quits in 2012. Krishna was one of the highest-paid actors of his time.
