According to the official information released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the third series of Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs) 2022-23 is going to open for subscription on Monday, 19 December. Investors will get a chance to invest in gold bonds from December 19 to December 23 i.e. for five days. RBI has fixed the issue price of the bond at Rs 5409 per gram. These bonds are issued by the RBI on behalf of the government. At the same time, the fourth series of the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme will open for subscription from 06-10 March 2023.

Giving information about the issue price, RBI said, a discount of Rs 50 per gram will be given to investors applying online and making payment through digital means. Payment for SGB will be through cash payment (up to a maximum of 20000) or demand draft or check or electronic banking. Under Sovereign Gold Bonds, investors can invest in a maximum of 4 kg of gold bonds in a financial year and the minimum purchase limit is 1 gram. Institutions can buy gold bonds up to a maximum of 20 grams. The maturity period of the scheme is 8 years and the withdrawal option is also given after 5 years. Under the scheme, 2.50 percent interest will be available annually.
