According to sources in the Defence Ministry, Republic Day 2024 could feature “only women participants” in marching and band contingents, as well as tableaux and other acts during the parade at Kartavya Path in the capital.

This occurs as organizations increase opportunities for women and train them for leadership positions. The document mentioning that such a suggestion is being considered was distributed to the three services and departments arranging the march.
According to the memorandum, which was obtained by news agency PTI, it has been agreed that the Republic Day Parade 2024 will only feature female performers in the contingents (marching and band), tableaus, and other parade-related events along the Kartavya Path.

A few all-female contingents and female officers, including those commanding military contingents made up of males, have participated in the yearly parade in recent years.

‘Nari Shakti’ was the overarching subject throughout the tableaux of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Tripura in the 2023 parade. The administration has pushed for more women to serve in the military forces in recent years. The Indian Army has appointed five women officers to its Regiment of Artillery, marking a historic first.
