Maintaining that stardom for three decades is more difficult than making a mark in the industry. In an interview, Ajay says, “You are right. It is very difficult to sustain yourself in showbiz for 30 years. For this, it is necessary to improve oneself with time and show maturity. For this one has to experiment continuously with work. There is a need to learn closely from each of your colleagues and filmmakers. It is a never-ending process. I do not mean to be number 1 or number 2 anywhere. I mean to say that you have to find the purpose of your craft yourself.”

“Had Come To Fulfill Father’s Dream”
Ajay Devgan made his Bollywood debut with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’. Ajay says, “To be honest, my father had dreamed of making me an actor. I just came to make his dream come true. Then I did not think about whether I would be successful or not. Yes, I was not careless about that opportunity. I did what I was asked to do. One cannot plan one’s stardom. For this, you have to work hard.”

“I Was Not Ready For Stardom Then”

“That Was Crazy”
When Ajay Devgan was asked if he remembers anything about the entry scene in ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ after 30 years? The actor said, “I don’t remember the exact experience of that time, but I can say for sure that it was insane to do a scene riding two motorcycles. I was nervous. I was having tickles in my stomach. It happens even today when I am in such a situation. I remember there were no body doubles then. As actors, we had to shoot the scene. That was my father’s faith in me and my courage. That’s why that scene was shot.”

“I Used To Get Very Tired”
Sharing memories related to ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, Ajay Devgan says, “The memories on the sets of the film have become a bit hazy. My director Kuku Kohli cast both Madhu Shah and me as newcomers. He chose the best music directors of that era, Nadeem and Shravan. Took my father for action choreography. There were veteran actors like Amrish Puri in the film. I was raw for the industry at that time, the kind of action scenes my father made me do, I used to get tired badly. Trust me, he did not make any action scenes easy for me. He choreographed more difficult scenes because he believed that I can do them.”
